The area of Yogyakarta city is 32.5 square kilometers (12.5 square miles). Although the city spreads out in all directions from the Kraton, the Sultan's palace, the modern city core is to the north, centered around Dutch colonial era buildings and commercial areas. Jalan Malioboro, with its row of street vendors and nearby markets and malls, is the main shopping street for tourists in the city, while Jalan Solo, further north and east, is a shopping area more frequently visited by local residents.

Around the Kraton there is a densely populated residential area that occupies land that was once the Sultan's only territory. Evidence of this former use still exists in the form of old walls scattered throughout the city, and the ruins of the Taman Sari water palace, which was built in 1758 as a recreation park.
No longer used by the Sultan, the gardens were largely abandoned before being used as housing by palace officials and their descendants. Reconstruction efforts began in 2004, and the site is now a popular tourist attraction.

Day 2: Sri Gethuk Waterfall, Pindul Cave, Sadranan Beach (or Indrayanti/Kukup/Sundak/Drini Beach)

Next to Pindul Cave. Here we will take you to explore a cave with a river flowing in it
