Cape Town is the legislative capital of South Africa. It is the oldest city in the country and the seat of the South African Parliament. It is the country's second largest city after Johannesburg and the largest city in the Western Cape. The city is part of the Cape Town metropolitan area.
The city is famous for its harbor, the natural location of the Cape Frosti area, and attractions such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town was named the world's best tourist destination by the New York Times in 2014 and the Daily Telegraph in 2016.
Cape Town's City Bowl area is located along the Table Bay. It is the oldest urban area in the Western Cape and has important cultural heritage. It was founded by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a supply depot for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India and the Far East.
