Thing to Do in Colorado

Colorado is a state in the Mountain West subregion of the Western United States. This region includes most of the Southern Rockies, as well as the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains. Colorado is the eighth largest and 21st most populous US state.

The United States Census Bureau estimates Colorado's population at 5,877,610 on July 1, 2023, an increase of 1.80% since the 2020 United States census. This region has been inhabited by Native Americans and their ancestors for at least 13,500 years and possibly much longer.

The eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains was a major migration route for early peoples who spread across the Americas. In 1848, most of the territory was annexed to the United States through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The Pike Peak Gold Rush of 1858–1862 created an influx of settlers. On February 28, 1861, U.S. President James Buchanan signed the act creating the Colorado Territory, and on August 1, 1876, President Ulysses S.

Grant signed Proclamation 230 admitting Colorado as the 38th state. The Spanish adjective “colorado” means “red” or “reddish.” Colorado is nicknamed the "Centennial State" for becoming a state one century (and four weeks) after the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence.

Colorado borders Wyoming to the north, Nebraska to the northeast, Kansas to the east, Oklahoma to the southeast, New Mexico to the south, Utah to the west, and touches Arizona to the southwest at the Four Corners. Colorado is known for its mountainous landscapes, forests, plateaus, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers, and desert lands. Colorado is one of the Mountain States and is often considered part of the southwestern United States.

The Colorado Plateau can be considered part of the midwestern United States. Denver is the capital, most populous city, and center of the Front Urban Corridor. Colorado Springs is the second most populous city. The state's residents are known as Coloradans, although the archaic word "Coloradoan" is sometimes used.

The main parts of the economy include government and maintenance, mining, agriculture, tourism, and other types of manufacturing. With increasing temperatures and decreasing air availability, Colorado's economy in agriculture, forestry, and tourism is expected to be greatly impacted by climate change.
